The National Agency for science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has built a N354 million Technology Orientation Centre that will serve as a research and development (R and D) hub to boost locally made science and engineering products in the country.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Centre at NASENI headquarters Idu, Abuja, yesterday, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said President Muhammad Buhari had resolved to give his administration’s total support to the development of indigenous technologies.
The minister said the NASENI Technology Orientation Center would help entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators gain greater access to the necessary processes that would fast track the commercialization of inventions using indigenous technologies.
In his welcome address, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Prof Mohammed Sani Haruna, said the new hub would not only promote indigenous technologies but also take on new and emerging technologies and determine their relevance to the Nigeria economy.
