Abuja Creative Enterprise Group

The Abuja Creative Enterprise Group (ACEG) is a project of the Abuja enterprise agency. It was designed and intended to develop, encourage, and promote social enterprise and the use of ICT as an innovative approach to harness skills and talents, support creative arts, build self reliance, and create job opportunities for the abundantly gifted and talented youths. The 2010 version of the completion focused on music, dance and comedy.

A total of 107 youth were registered for the program which had 3 major phases (auditioning, orientation grooming, and grand finale), with evictions carried out from the first phase.

The auditioning/ orientation phase witnessed a lot of talents in the three categories (music, dance, comedy) which made it difficult for judges to carry out eviction. Only 25 participants were to be penciled down for the grooming phase.

Judges involved are seasoned artists who have made their marks in the entertainment industry and are still doing so. They include the style plus group (tunde shifi, zeal), the infinity (olori-oko) group (sunny, Sam, & Joseph), Ibrahim Suleiman (captain of the soul quest crew, winners of the 1stMalta Guinness street dance competition), Miss lacasera Nigeria, stainless precious etc

Activities carried out at the orientation/auditioning phase include training on ethics, civics and moral education. This was then followed by the second phase were 25 participants were selected for mentoring and grooming by the artists. Selecting these best 25 was a difficult task for the judges. Performances were also done at this stage to get the best three (3) from each category.

At the grand finale the best 3 performer from each category was selected. The winners Afam (music, rap),               (street dance) and walking talking (comedy) each went home with N250, 000, N150,000 and N100, 000 respectively as cash prizes.

These performers were outstanding and were huge discoveries. Afam who won the competition as overall best performed one of his singles titled “change”. The song was meant to be a message asking for change in the Nigerian system in all aspects. He expressed hope as he performed before a crowd with large return of dignitaries.

The grand finale took place on Wednesday, 23rdFebruary, 2011 at the social development secretariat (SDS), Garki area 10, Abuja.

The agency has been mandated by the FCT Administration to establish an Abuja talent academy. Registered members of ACEG are expected to be key part of the project with key players in the entertainment industry to be involved as involved as mentors.
